WaitlistSolana Ranch - World GeographySummer Enrichment - Solana Ranch 2025Do you love geography? Are you interested in world travel? In this class, you will travel through the Americas and the continents of Africa, Asia, and Europe. Each week, we will focus on one continent. Students will create political and biome map puzzles to help familiarize themselves with the countries and play games. Students will explore the national parks of North America, learn about indigenous South American animals, see the world heritage sites and animal sanctuaries in Africa, explore amazing structures in Asia, and visit must-see places in Europe. Each week, students will delve into some of the ancient civilizations and cultures from the continents through research projects, reader’s theater, and art. Each week, students will create a geographically inspired art project, such as a paper mâché animal from South America, African-inspired wire art to create a baobab tree, origami, and ink and rice paper paintings from Asia, oil pastels to create pastoral scenes like Van Gogh, as well as cook some typical European foods. Our whirlwind tour will end with a geography bee styled after the National Geographic Geo Bee. So, if your student is interested in competing in next year’s Geo Bee, this is a great opportunity to start preparing! All students will initially be placed on a waiting list.
