The Solana Beach School District Band is open to all fourth through sixth graders in the Solana Beach School District.

  • Advanced Band

    The Solana Beach School District Band is an after school program of the Solana Beach Child Development Center.  It is open to all 4th - 6th graders in the Solana Beach School District. The band meets one day per week, after school. Band tuition is $675 for the year, which includes 28 classes, concerts, school events, music book, and t-shirt.Advanced Band meets on Mondays at SOLANA PACIFIC from 3:30-5:30 in the Solana Pacific Theatre.Students must have participated in a year of Beginning Band or have at least a year of prior experience playing their band instrument before registering for Advanced Band.INSTRUMENT CHOICES & RENTALS:Students need an instrument of their choice to participate in the band program. Students may pick from flute, clarinet, alto saxophone, tenor saxophone, trumpet, trombone, baritone, tube and percussion (i.e. drums). Families can choose to purchase an instrument or rent one. A music store representative will be on hand at the Band Information Night to assist with instrument rentals. ABOUT THE DIRECTOR:Frank Glasson, a native of Solana Beach, has performed in the trumpet sections of the San Diego Chamber Orchestra, San Diego Opera, Middel Deutsche Rundfunk Orchestra of Germany, Tokyo Opera Nomori of Japan, Cape Town Symphony Orchestra, Start Theater and National Chamber Orchestras of South Africa, and has appeared as a soloist with the latter two. Also an accomplished jazz performer, Frank received a Grammy nomination for "Best Jazz Instrumental Solo" for his improvised solos on the recording "Jazztet" in 2006. Frank is a Yamaha performing artist and can currently be seen performing with the San Diego Symphony Orchestra and Pacific Symphony of Orange County. Frank is currently the band director for the Solana Beach School District and Director of Mainly Mozart Youth Orchestra's Concert Band. For 8 years, Frank served as President of the American Federation of Musicians, Local 325.Frank Glasson, Director: "I am a professional trumpet player and I myself learned to play the trumpet in the Solana Beach School District. I am vested in nurturing a high quality band program in our school district.   • Beginning Band

    The Solana Beach School District Band is an after school program of the Solana Beach Child Development Center. It is open to all 4th - 6th graders in the Solana Beach School District. The band meets one day per week, after school. Band tuition is $675 for the year, which includes 28 classes, concerts, school events, music book, and t-shirt.Beginning Band practices on Tuesdays from 3:30 - 5:30 in the Solana Pacific Theatre. Students do not need any prior experience to join Beginning Band. Instrument specific coaching is taught by qualified musicians during the first hour of class the first half of the year. INSTRUMENT CHOICES & RENTALS:Students need an instrument of their choice to participate in the band program. Students may pick from flute, clarinet, alto saxophone, tenor saxophone, trumpet, trombone, baritone, tube and percussion (i.e. drums). Families can choose to purchase an instrument or rent one.
