Students will learn new music this week. INSTRUMENT CHOICES: Flute, Clarinet, Trumpet, Trombone, Baritone, Alto-Saxophone, Percussion EXTENDED CHILD CARE: Parents needing extended care after Summer Band can register for CDC's Summer Camp at Carmel Creek. ABOUT THE DIRECTOR: Frank Glasson, a native of Solana Beach, has performed in the trumpet sections of the San Diego Chamber Orchestra, San Diego Opera, Middel Deutsche Rundfunk Orchestra of Germany, Tokyo Opera Nomori of Japan, Cape Town Symphony Orchestra, Start Theater and National Chamber Orchestras of South Africa, and has appeared as a soloist with the latter two. Also an accomplished jazz performer, Frank received a Grammy nomination for "Best Jazz Instrumental Solo" for his improvised solos on the recording "Jazztet" in 2006. Frank is a Yamaha performing artist and can currently be seen performing with the San Diego Symphony Orchestra and Pacific Symphony of Orange County. Frank is currently the band director for the Solana Beach School District and Director of Mainly Mozart Youth Orchestra's Concert Band. For 8 years, Frank served as President of the American Federation of Musicians, Local 325. Frank Glasson, Director: "I am a professional trumpet player and I myself learned to play the trumpet in the Solana Beach School District. I am vested in nurturing a high quality band program in our school district. I am passionate about music and believe that my dynamic approach will inspire the band to new heights as the best learning comes when you enjoy what you are doing." Before and After School CareOur school-age program is based on the belief that children are decision-makers and should be allowed to make choices. The program encourages development of socialization skills, gross and fine motor skills, problem solving and cooperative skills in a stimulating and safe environment. Children may choose to participate in arts and crafts, organized games and sports, computers, science, and other enriching and developmentally appropriate activities. CDC also offers a daily homework time and a nutritious afternoon snack. Expanded Learning Opportunity Program (ELO-P) Student Eligibility for free ELO-P Enrollment Students enrolled in SBSD schools who are: Eligible for Free or Reduced-price Lunch, as Determined by the Household Income (will need to provide District Letter) Classified as Foster Youth Experiencing Homelessness Students who do not qualify for free enrollment based on the criteria above, may still participate in the fee-based Child Development Center programs.Child Care Program

Carmel CreekCDC's Summer Specialty Camps at Carmel Creek are designed for children entering kindergarten through third grade. Camps are Monday through Friday with exciting weekly themes integrated into the lesson plans. Each camp will have a focus area and include a multitude of indoor and outdoor activities. Lesson plans will be posted on our website weekly. Kinder Club Grades: Kindergarten The Kinder Club is designed to acclimate incoming kindergarteners to an elementary school site in a fun camp setting. Kinders will enjoy a wide variety of activities including arts and crafts, games and sports, and STREAM projects in a small group environment. STREAM Grades: 1-3 The STREAM camp combines science, technology, research, engineering, art, and math into exciting theme-based projects. Games & Sports Grades 1-3 The Games and Sports camp provides a fun energetic camp experience for campers who love to be active! Arts & Crafts Grades 1-3 Campers in the Arts & Crafts camp will work with a variety of mediums and techniques and allow each artist to use their imagination and creativity while learning new skills.Category
