Solana Ranch - World Culture

Summer Enrichment / Summer Enrichment - Solana Ranch 2026 -
2026 Summer Enrichment

Travel the world without ever leaving the classroom. Through art, food, geography, and cultural exploration, students will gain a deeper appreciation for the diverse cultures that make up our world. In this class, you will travel through Oceania and the continents of South America, Africa, Asia, and Europe. Each week, we will focus on one continent. In the first half of the morning, students will learn about the continent's geography, which shapes the customs of various countries. Students will create different types of maps, read stories from the perspectives of people from different countries, and choose a research project that interests them to learn more about a particular culture or country using multimedia platforms. In the second part of the day, students will create art representing various cultures and cook some traditional foods. Students will create Aboriginal art and make fairy bread from Australia; Diego Rivera-inspired oil pastels, sugar skulls, and tortilla soup from the Americas; African-inspired masks and Nigerian buns; kites, mandalas, and fried rice from Asia; and architecture-inspired artwork and pastries from Europe. Join us and discover the world one continent at a time!
