Do you love geography? Are you interested in world travel? In this class, you will travel through the Americas and the continents of Africa, Asia, and Europe. Each week, we will focus on one continent. Students will create political and biome map puzzles to help familiarize themselves with the countries and play games. Students will explore the national parks of North America, learn about indigenous South American animals, see the world heritage sites and animal sanctuaries in Africa, explore amazing structures in Asia, and visit must-see places in Europe. Students will delve into ancient civilizations and cultures from the continents each week through research projects, reader’s theater, and art. Each week, students will create a geographically-inspired art project, such as a paper mache animal from South America, African-inspired wire art to create a baobab tree, origami, and ink and rice paper paintings from Asia, oil pastels to create pastoral scenes like Van Gogh, as well as cook some typical European foods. Our whirlwind tour will end with a geography bee styled after the National Geographic Geo Bee. So, if your student is interested in competing in next year’s Geo Bee, this is a great opportunity to start preparing!

• The Child Development Center (CDC) will offer childcare from 7:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. and 12 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday – Friday. A separate registration is required. Please contact our Child Development Center (CDC) for space availability.
• There may be fee assistance/aid available for Summer Enrichment and childcare through the Expanded Learning Opportunity Program (ELO-P). The Expanded Learning Opportunity Program (ELO-P) is funded through Assembly Bill 130 and provides after-school and intersession learning programs for qualifying students. Scholarships are available for families that qualify. Space is limited and based on program capacity. Click here for an application.
